Section 1 - Defining What You Do

Alright, this may sound like a hokey way to start, but I feel very strongly about reminding you how important it is to stay true to who you are. Sometimes we're not entirely sure who we are and what we do and that's okay. That's why we're going to take a minute to define these things right now.

For starters, realize that creative’s come in all shapes and sizes:
From writers and actors to photographers and interior designers...
From bloggers and web designers to speakers and entertainers...
From artists and event planners to cartoonists and graphic designers...we are everywhere.

Frankly there is no way I can name all of the creative entrepreneurs out there.

The bottom line is if you are a creative who wants to monetize your talents, realize that you can.

I'm going to show you how.

This is how I live...and this is why I created the Creatives' Bankroll Academy.

You don't have to give up what you're doing to work full or part-time somewhere else just to survive. That's not what life should be about. Life should be about doing what you love and actually making money doing it. I'm not kidding. If you think it's impossible, think again.

I am a creative who writes, speaks, teaches, acts, and blogs. I make 6-figures doing this. And so can you. Mind you, I didn't make that kind of money right out of the gate. It took drive and perseverance before I hit the 6-figure mark. Some years are better than others. But frankly, my goal isn't to make a million dollars doing this. (Although I do want to sell a TV series or screenplay, and when I do, that figure is just fine!) It's to make money doing what I love. That's it.

The amount you make is up to you. Some of us are okay with $40k a year. Some of us are okay with $60k a year. Some of us want more. Just realize you can reach your goal and make what you want without ever having to get another full or part-time job.

Some of you have jobs right now and that's fine. But I know many of you don't want to hang on to them anymore. You want to fully immerse yourself in what you really love. That's the purpose of the academy: To show you different ways to monetize your talents and passions. I have found a way, and I am soooo excited to share it with you.

So let's get started with a necessary evil and ask that ever-loving question:

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Download your first content sheet below and we'll find out. We want to put in writing what you do, why you do it, and how you're making money doing it right now. So g'head. Download. I'll wait right here.

Fantastic.

For any cheaters out there that don't feel the need to do this, I encourage you to do so.

We may think we have solid answers to these questions in our head but putting them on paper allows us to really see them. That's really what we want to accomplish here. Don't limit yourself.

Sometimes we decide we can't do something because we're too old or think it's too late.

Bulls**t.

It's never too late. You are never too old. Life is what you make of it, and as long as you're on this ride with me, you're gonna see just that.

In the interest of the lesson, I'll answer the questions too:

What do you do?
I am a writer.

Why do you do it?
Because if I don't, I'll explode. It's what I've done all my life in one form or another. I love creating stories and promoting change with my words.

How do you make money doing this right now?
I write for two regional magazines.
I am the author of one book and two eBooks.
I ghostwrite eBooks and books for other people.
I am a ghost blogger and content creator for small business owners.

In what other ways do you make money to support your creative venture?
I belong to a local talent agency. I shoot local, regional, and national commercials. Sometimes I do still photo shoots, other times I do in-house videos for companies. I love this gig.

I am a professional speaker. I prefer keynotes to platform speaking.

I teach at conferences, retreat centers, and my own workshops.

How much to you make a month?
I generate anywhere between $2000 - $8,000 a month.

How much do you want to make a month?
$7000- $10,000 a month

What’s going to happen if you don’t reach this goal?
I'm going to go ballistic. (No, not really.)

But I certainly won't be happy. If I don't reach this goal (or, in other words, stay true to my passion), I will walk around numb. I'll end up working a meaningless job and waking up feeling awful about myself. I'll probably eat too much ice cream and cry in my bowl. But I don't want that. I choose to be healthy and do what I love. So for me, there is no IF. There is only I WILL.

There.

Now you know the deal with me. Take a minute to complete yours thoroughly and honestly. You'll want to look back on it now and again to see how far you've progressed.

So now that we know the Who, the What, and the Why, let's explore the How.
